What's our identity?

As a team, as a squad.

When you think of Leeds United this season how do we play?

Brentford have this defend deep and counter with quick passes thing (not hoofs)

Brighton are a possession based high intensity attack minded team

Man City are Barca lite

Klopp has his heavy metal football.

Even Dyche has his style at Everton.

But what are we? What is our squad built for?

You would think given Marsch was our manager it would be built for his narrow penis ball no width style with full backs proving the width.

But no.

We have only 1 natural central attacking midfielder (Aaronson) and our full backs are to slow and immobile to charge up and down the pitch every day.

So it isn't actually built for that even if it was meant to be.

And also our midfielders are nowhere near technical enough to move the ball forward at the required pace (as evidence by how often they give the ball away).

So is it a build from the back high pressing attack machine like Bielsa?

Nope

Again players aren't technically good enough to pass out from the back (look how often we gave it away yesterday) and not fit enough to press to that degree any more.

So is it a counter attacking sit deep then break quickly team like Brentford?

Nope we lack the pace and dynamic passing Brentford have on the break, not to mention we are nowhere near as defensively organised

So is it a 10 men behind the ball, then hoof it forward towards an old fashioned 9 and fight for 2nd balls and set pieces like a Dyche?

Nope, again our defenders aren't disciplined enough to defend like that and our midfielders aren't helpful enough to do it

And our strikers (Bamford and Rodders) aren't physically powerful enough to play off them successfully all the time

We seem to have a squad that isn't built for any particular style?

It either lacks the players in key positions or it lacks the quality in players.

Have we managed to spend £100s of millions of pounds on building a squad that has no discernable style to speak of?

It was when watching Gracia recently and how defensive we are.

And I thought that we have tried basically all the different styles to some degree and we don't seem able to do any of them.

We've tried all out attack with width, we've tried it narrow, we've tried defensive counter attacking stuff.

None of it worked, the players couldn't do it

So what is this squad built for?

What's the thought process in terms of style of play ?
