I am a fervent reader of local community newspapers, and have been for at least the last four decades. Reading hyper-local news has always made me feel attached to the neighbourhoods in which I've lived. Sadly, since moving to downtown (Ville- Marie borough) I no longer have a community newspaper. So I make a point of seeking out papers serving Côte-des-Neiges, N.D.G., Verdun ... you name it. if I can get my hands on it, I will read it front to back.
