Report: Man United could miss key man for Spurs game after fresh injury
As Manchester United prepare to travel to Tottenham Hotspur on Thursday evening, the Red Devils could be without one of their key players as Bruno Fernandes deals with an ankle injury.
The Portuguese star was substituted in the first half of extra time at Wembley on Sunday as Manchester United booked their place in the FA Cup final thanks to a penalty shootout win over Brighton and Hove Albion.
Tottenham go into the game on Thursday looking to bounce back from the 6-1 defeat against Newcastle United on Sunday afternoon.
The demoralising result not only leaves Spurs’ hopes of finishing in the top four in tatters, but also saw interim manager Cristian Stellini lose his job.
Spurs are very much a club in crisis at the moment, but new Acting Head Coach Ryan Mason will be hoping to steady the ship with a positive performance against their league rivals.
Surely, any advantage Tottenham can find right now would be gratefully received, so the news of Manchester United’s vice-captain potentially missing the trip will be good news for Spurs.
A report from ESPN suggests Fernandes was almost replaced after 45 minutes of the cup tie against Brighton, but stayed on the pitch.
The 28-year-old was seen limping away from Wembley Stadium on Sunday, and has since been pictured in a protective boot.

United will be desperate for Fernandes to be fit in time, as they have a poor record without him this season.
Of the four games Fernandes has not started this term, Erik ten Hag’s men have won just one, against Charlton in the Carabao Cup.
Spurs Web Opinion
There’s no denying a United side without Fernandes is a much more appealing prospect, but they have more than enough quality within their ranks to hurt us regardless.
If he is missing, we just have to capitalise on that and exploit the inevitable weakness it will leave in their lineup.
