Multiple injuries in school bus crash in New Castle, NY: officials

NEW CASTLE, N.Y. (PIX11) – A small school bus and another vehicle collided in Westchester County, injuring several people Wednesday afternoon.

The crash happened on Lake Road in New Castle around 2:13 p.m. The crash involved a Yorktown Central School District bus and a 2016 Honda Accord, according to police.

A 16-year-old boy, who was unlicensed, was driving the Honda Accord southbound on Lake Raod he the vehicle lost control while rounding a curve, crossed into oncoming traffic and hit the bus head on, police said.

The 16-year-old driver and his three passengers were hospitalized with life-threatening injuries, according to police. All five passengers on the bus were taken to a hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

Video from AIR11 showed the front end of both vehicles smashed together. The windshields were cracked and debris littered the roadway.
