Where to go to watch the Coronation of King Charles III in London on big screens for free
The Coronation of King Charles III and his wife, Queen Camilla is almost upon us and Britons around the country will be avidly preparing for a weekend of celebrations.
On the day of the coronation royal fans will line The Mall in order to watch the King and Queen’s coronation procession.
However, if you are unable to make it to the procession route, there will also be plenty of big screens dotted around London, where you can watch the event for free.
Let’s take a look at where you can watch the coronation for free on screens across the capital.
Hyde Park
In Hyde Park there will be four big screens broadcasting the event.
Where to find the big screens in Hyde Park
These will be located at:
- Screen 1: Old Football Pitches (south of the Serpentine, close to South Carriage Drive) – facing west
- Screen 2: Old Football Pitches (south of the Serpentine, close to South Carriage Drive) – facing east
- Screen 3: The Cockpit (north side of the Serpentine, near the Norwegian War Memorial)
- Screen 4: Boathouse Lawn (north side of the Serpentine, next to the boathouse)

You do not need to book and can just turn up to the free event and you can bring a chair or picnic blanket to sit on.
You will be able to access the park from 5am on the Saturday morning, however, the broadcast will not begin until later in the morning, before the first procession.
There will be signs in the park and stewards directing you to the viewing area.
There will be kiosks near each of the screens where you can buy food and drink but you can also bring your own – although glass is prohibited.

Coronation of King Charles III latest
The historic Coronation of Their Majesties King Charles III and Queen Consort Camilla will take place in Westminster Abbey on Saturday, May 6, 2023.

St James’s Park
You will also be able to see the coronation on a big screen in St James’s park.
The screen will be located near the Marlborough Gate.
This site is much smaller than the Hyde Park site and is likely to fill up quickly.
This screening will follow the same rules as the Hyde Park screening above.

Green Park
Like St James’s Park, there will also be one big screen in neighbouring Green Park.
It will be located and The Broad Walk.
The screen will be fairly small so make sure to get there early to grab yourself a spot.
This screening will follow the same rules as both the Hyde Park and St James’s Park screenings.

BoxPark
BoxPark Croydon and BoxPark Wembley will also be showing the coronation live on May 6.
As well as this it will then be hosting a ‘Massaoke’ as a live band takes to the stage and plays British pop, indie and rock anthems.
You can register for free tickets here however, this does not guarantee you entry as the event will operate on a first come, first served basis.

Grosvenor Square, Mayfair
At Grosvenor Square in Mayfair, a coronation garden party is taking place, from 10am to 8pm on Saturday 6 May, and from 12pm until the end of the Windsor Castle concert on Sunday 7 May.
At the event, there will be a large cinema sized screen which will broadcast the coronation live.
There will also be a wide range of food and drink options available for purchase, including cocktails from Mr Froggs.
This is a free event and does not require a ticket, you can just turn up on the day.

Battersea Power Station
The newly refurbished Battersea Power Station is hosting a coronation street party across the coronation weekend.
As part of the event, the coronation will be broadcast on a big screen from 11am on Saturday May 6 and Sunday May 7 and the London landmark’s iconic chimneys will be lit up for the event.
There will also be special coronation themed menus at cafes and restaurants in the power station and performances from live bands and dancers.
This is not a ticketed event and you can just turn up on the day.
