Road Accident Kills 5, Injures 9 in Western Afghanistan
According to a statement issued by the provincial police office on Wednesday, an automobile accident in the western Badghis province of Afghanistan claimed the lives of at least five passengers and injured nine others.
On Tuesday evening, a car toppled in the Bala Murghab area due to irresponsible driving, killing five people—including a child—on the scene and wounding nine others, some of whom were in serious condition, the statement said.
Women and children were injured, and all were delivered to the hospital for medical treatment.
On Monday, in the eastern province of Parwan, six persons were killed in a similar traffic accident.
During the three days of Eid-ul-Fitr in western Herat Province, at least 220 people were injured due to road accidents.
Among accidents, motorcycle accidents were the leading cause of injury during the three days of Eid.
The accidents could be due to speed driving, road congestion, lack of safety precautions when travelling, careless driving on dusty roads, and not following traffic rules.
