I’m a hairdresser and there’s a proper way to wash your hair – it’s not in the shower & it’ll make it feel salon clean
A HAIRSTYLIST has revealed the exact way you should be washing your hair at home if you want to achieve salon results.
Rachel Valentine, from sunny Australia, shared her step-by-step process of washing her hair over on TikTok.
In the short clip posted to her account @rachelvalentinehair, she said: “If there was one thing that I got asked everyday, it is how to wash your hair properly at home just like a pro.”
While many of us will be used to washing our hair in the shower, Rachel revealed she often does it over the bath instead to ensure she cleans every section of her scalp.
She penned: “Follow these hair wash steps and your hair will be just like when you leave the salon.”
First, she recommended saturating your hair completely with water before swiping the shampoo all over her scalp.
Once the shampoo is evenly distributed, Rachel then began to massage it into her scalp.
She added: “Then I’m using my fingertips with a good decent amount of pressure, just going around each area of my head and scrubbing.”
Rachel explains that she scrubs her scalp for one minute before rinsing it out and repeating for a double cleanse.
Once done, Rachel then squeezes all the water out of hair and a towel to get any excess water before putting on conditioner.
“Notice where I’m putting my conditioner,” she added.
“It’s going straight onto my lengths and ends first,” she then goes on to comb through her hair with her fingers to ensure it’s evenly distributed.
The hairdresser revealed you can leave it in to soak for a few minutes or rinse out the conditioner straight away.
While rinsing she also massaged her scalp to ensure it was squeaky clean.`
“That is how to shampoo like a pro at home,” she revealed.
The video has since gone viral with over 930k views and over 48k likes.
People were quick to take to the comments section of the video to share their thoughts.
Many thanked Rachel for sharing her routine while others claimed it would never work for them.
