'I fear': Erik ten Hag confirms key player is injured ahead of Tottenham clash
Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag has confirmed that Scott McTominay will be sidelined for tonight’s Premier League clash against Tottenham Hotspur.
The Red Devils have won their last three league games and they will be aiming to extend the streak when they face Spurs at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.
Ahead of the encounter, Ten Hag has confirmed that McTominay won’t be involved again, having yet to recover from the injury sustained earlier this month.
He told Manutd.com: “Alejandro is not ready for the game. Scott, we have to wait a little bit longer, I fear. But I am sure they are all motivated to be back as soon as possible as we play a lot of ‘finals’, huge games and, in the end, we know what is going on then.”
McTominay remains a key player under Ten Hag
The Scotland international was an assured starter at the beginning of the season and he managed to keep Casemiro out of the starting line-up until October.
Casemiro has since been the regular from the number six position but McTominay has provided valuable back-up when the Brazilian has been on the sidelines.
The 26-year-old was hugely impressive in the hard-fought victory over Brentford this month and he continues to remain a key player for manager Erik ten Hag.
Hopefully, the Scot will be available in the coming games. United need quality depth for the rest of the season as they look to secure a top-four finish and lift the FA Cup title.
The Red Devils will be aiming for a fifth straight win over Spurs in tonight’s clash. They should go into the game as favourites, given the poor league form of the London club.
