Man Utd ready to 'position themselves' to sign 21yo Brazilian starlet - report
Manchester United are ready to make an approach to sign Monaco right-back Vanderson during this summer’s transfer window, according to RMC Sport.
The Red Devils currently have Diogo Dalot and Aaron Wan-Bissaka as their right-back options and both players have impressed over the course of the season.
However, there has still been speculation that the club could reinforce the department and RMC Sport claim that United are hot on the trail of Vanderson.
The 21-year-old was on United’s radar last summer and they are prepared to revive their interest when the transfer window reopens in a couple of months’ time.
Vanderson is widely expected to leave Monaco if they miss out on the Champions League and United are ready to ‘position themselves’ to secure his services.
Will Man Utd sign Vanderson this summer?
Vanderson has had a good season with the Principality outfit. In his 34 appearances this campaign, he has chipped in with one goal and four assists from right-back.
Defensively, he has also been impressive with 2.7 tackles and 4.9 duels won per appearance but in our opinion, he would not be an upgrade on Wan-Bissaka next term.
The Brazilian definitely has plenty of potential but he has been guilty of losing possession on 13.4 occasions on average with a pass accuracy of only 79 per cent.
In comparison, Aaron Wan-Bissaka has a pass completion rate of 83 per cent this season, losing possession on nine occasions per Premier League appearance.
With Diogo Dalot on the verge of signing a new deal, Wan-Bissaka is the player at risk of being sold for a new right-back. We would prefer to keep him over signing Vanderson.
