I’m a cleaning whizz and have three ways to get rid of pesky ants this summer… my Borax Balls are a must-know
IF you don’t want to deal with pesky ant in your home and garden this summer don’t worry.
Cleaning pro Nicole Jacques shared three quick and easy ways to stop them in their tracks, and you want have to fork out for pricey products either.
One quick and easy way to keep the ants at bay is by mixing together baking soda and powdered sugar.
“Pour the mixture into a shallow container or bowl, then place it near the line of ants.
“The powdered sugar will attract the ants to the mixture. The ants will take it back to their nest and eat it,” Nicole expalined.
If you want something a little stronger she suggested making her DIY Borax balls.
All you need to do is mix Borax, or Borax substitute, with sugar and warm water and soak cotton balls or cut up pieces of sponge in the liquid.
After soaking up the mixture few a few minutes just leave them out for the ants to discover – the Borax will kill the ants.
However, if you have pets you should be careful about using this medod, as it is toxic to both cats and dogs.
Finally, the cleaning whizz suggested keeping outdoor surfaces clean by wiping them down with distilled white vinegar.
You can do this regularly, or just before you eat outside.
Nicole said: “You can’t smell it and once it dries the ants hate it so won’t come near it.”
Other cleaning fans loved the handy tricks and couldn’t wait to put them to the test in their own gardens.
One commented: “I needed these ideas, thank you! So many ants right now.”
And another said: “If you put cinnamon they don’t like it but it won’t kill then, which is my goal.”
