Library to close
for renovation
The library will be closed beginning May 15 for smoke detection and fire suppression system upgrades.
During the closure, patrons can check out and return materials at other city libraries or branches in the Marin County Free Library system.
The branch located at 2097 Sir Francis Drake Blvd. will reopen with new hours on May 24.
The $850,000 project included work to install a potable water service line along Sir Francis Drake Boulevard. It is funded through the Marin County Free Library’s Measure A parcel tax, first approved by voters in 2010.
NOVATO
Military equipment
meetings scheduled
The Police Department will hold two meetings to discuss Assembly Bill 481, which requires local governments to develop policies to regulate the use of military equipment and funds by law enforcement.
Meetings are planned at 5:30 p.m. Thursday, May 4 and 6 p.m. May 9 in the council chambers at City Hall, 901 Sherman Ave.

ROSS
Principal tapped
for Ross School
Maria Lubamersky, interim principal at Ross Middle School, has been named to permanent principal status by the Ross School District board of trustees.
Lubamersky, a San Rafael resident, will earn $151,874 annually.
Prior to her interim position at Ross Middle School, Lubamersky was assistant principal at White Hill Middle School in Fairfax for the past two years.
Lubamersky taught Spanish and English at Miller Creek Middle School in San Rafael for 23 years.

Storm drops
inch of rain
A spring storm brought more than an inch of rain to parts of Marin this week.
In the 48 hours period ending at noon on Wednesday, San Rafael received 0.68 inches of rain; Novato received 0.57 inches; Kentfield received 0.87 inches, Mill Valley received 1.06 inches.
Elsewhere, Sausalito received 0.88 inches; Mount Tamalpais received 1.18 inches and Point Reyes received 0.51 inches, said National Weather Service meteorologist Alexis Clouser.
Lingering showers could last Wednesday night into Thursday morning, Clouser said.
Overcast skies are expected for most of Thursday. Winds will be light, between 10 and 12 miles per hour, and temperatures will peak in the low 60s.
