One of the founders of the city of St. Petersburg was Pyotr Alexeyevitch Dementyev, a Russian aristocrat who came the America, investing his funds in railroads and real estate. He named the city after his hometown - St. Petersburg, Russia. He Americanized his name to Peter Demens.
