The Coronation of King Charles III is set to take place this week in a ceremony attended by 2,000 guests including royals, dignitaries, and stars from across the world.
The ceremony, steeped in tradition, will see the monarch and his wife Queen Camilla crowned before a weekend of events take place.
From a special Coronation Concert with a star-studded line-up to Big Lunches and street parties, there will be no shortage of ways to celebrate the occasion.
What’s more, we’re getting an extra bank holiday.
While many of us will want to use the long weekend as a chance to relax and recharge, others may want to embark on some retail therapy.

What shops are open on the coronation bank holiday Monday on May 8?
Good news for any prospective shoppers! Many shops will be open as usually on May 8.
This is because unlike Easter Sunday, where trading laws mean stores over a certain size need to close for the day, this bank holiday has no such laws pertaining to it.
However, many may operate under different opening and closing times to give their staff some well-earned time off.
Supermarkets will be open as usual on the bank holiday, though shoppers are urged to check with their local branches to see if hours differ.

- Sainsbury’s – Most larger stores will be open 8am to 8pm, while smaller local convenience stores will operate their normal hours. Check your local store opening hours online

These aren’t the only shops that will be open for the bank holiday.
If you want to get some DIY done, B&Q stores will be open as normal, with many opening between 7am and 8am and then closing at 8pm.
Most pharmacies will remain open, with the NHS providing a list of which ones will remain open on their website.
Clothes stores such as Primark and Next will be open if you want to refresh your wardrobe ready for Spring and Summer.
Eateries such as Costa and fast food outlets will also be open, with many offering freebies and discounts to celebrate the coronation.
