People are just realising iPhone and Android buttons give you extra battery life for free
BILLIONS of smartphone owners can save themselves from a dead battery with a simple trick.
Whether you’ve got an iPhone or an Android, you’ll be able to tap a button to instantly extend your charge.
Unlocking this bonus charge is free and easy, and it’s all thanks to power-saving modes built directly into the phone software.
For both phones, you’ll find that performance and available features are reduced.
So if you want the best iPhone or Android experience, you won’t get it with Low Power Mode or Battery Saver turned on.
But if you really need to squeeze some extra juice out of your handset, it may be worth the trade-off.
iPhone boost
Apple offers a Low Power Mode in the Settings app for iPhone owners to save some battery charge.
Low Power Mode can be turned on by going into Settings > Battery.
You can also add it to your Control Centre for a quick toggle by going to Settings > Control Centre > Customise Controls.
The battery icon on your status bar will turn yellow when Low Power Mode is active.
And it will automatically be turned off once your iPhone is charged to 80% or higher.
Android boost
Android also has a similar mode called Battery Saver.
You can find it by going into Settings > Battery > Battery Saver > Set a Schedule.
Users can choose No Schedule, which means simply turning it on or off manually.
And you can also set it to be based on your routine or on a charge percentage.
It’s also good to set the feature to turn off when charged, which can be automatically set at 90%.
Some Google Android phones also have a bonus mode called Extreme Battery Saver.
This turns off even more features.
