I want to give my daughter a unique name – people say my reason is the ‘stupidest’ and I’m ‘nuts’
A PARENT has asked for help naming their baby daughter.
They explained that they wanted to name the baby based on the nickname they want her to have.
An anonymous Redditor, u/HistoricalRip7368, shared a social media post they stumbled across from the parent asking for name advice.
“Please help, I’m due May 8th and have yet to pick out a baby girl name!” they said.
“I’m trying to incorporate something with ‘jelly’ into her name,” they explained.
“I say this because when I first found out when I was pregnant, if it was a boy, his nickname would be Peanut. If it was a girl, her nickname would be Jelly.”
The parent explained that they had a name in mind but their family isn’t convinced by it.
“I like Jel’yiana, but my family doesn’t dig it. If y’all gonna talk s**t on my posts, don’t comment at all.”
People took to the comments to share their thoughts: “Jelena was right there…” said one commenter.
“This is the stupidest reason to be naming her kid… Name choice even worse, but Jesus Christ…. ANGELINA OR ANGELICA IS RIGHT THERE?” said another.
“You’re nuts!!!!” said another critic.
“I don’t understand why she wants the nickname incorporated into the legal name,” said one.
“Lots of people have nicknames that are completely unrelated to their actual names.”
Others found themselves agreeing with the sentiment: “Why are people so fixated on nicknames when trying to give first names?” asked another.
