Ajay Banga, an Indian-American business executive, has been selected as the new head of the World Bank, replacing David Malpass. He is set to become the first-ever Indian-American to lead the Washington-based bank. US President Joe Biden congratulated Banga on his appointment, saying that he would be a "transformative leader" with the experience and expertise to help steer the institution to address global challenges, including climate change.
