Pakistan’s FM Bilawal to Visit India’s Goa For SCO Conference Today
Pakistan’s foreign minister Bilawal Bhutto Zardari will travel to the Indian state of Goa on Thursday to represent Pakistan at the Shanghai Cooperation Organization summit in 2023.
He will depart for India at 11 am local time for a ‘historic’ visit.
According to Pakistan Foreign Office Spokesperson Mumtaz Zahra, Bhutto is attending the SCO Foreign Ministers’ meeting at the invitation of India’s External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar.
The spokesperson stated, “Our attendance at the meeting reflects Pakistan’s continued commitment to the SCO charter and process as well as the importance that Pakistan accords to the region in its foreign policy priorities.”
Meanwhile, according to media reports, Pakistan’s Prime Minister Sharif sent Foreign Minister Bilawal to the Council of Foreign Ministers in Goa rather than skip the SCO amid the severe country’s economic issues.
The focus of the meeting will solely be on addressing regional and international matters and mutual interests, the report said.
In 2001, the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) was established. India, Russia, China, Pakistan, and four nations from Central Asia—Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, and Uzbekistan—are among its members.
