China’s FM To Visit Pakistan For Trilateral Talks on Afghanistan
Chinese Foreign Minister Qin Gang will visit Pakistan to attend trilateral talks on Afghanistan on May 5, according to officials said on Thursday.
Chinse State Councilor and Foreign Minister Qin Gang will visit Pakistan on May 5 and 6, where he will participate in the China-Afghanistan-Pakistan Foreign Minster’s Dialogue, according to a spokesperson for the Chinese Foreign Ministry.
After the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (CSO) in Goa, India, on May 5, the Chinese Foreign Minister will fly to Islamabad to lead a delegation from China in a strategic dialogue with Pakistan on May 5 and 6.
A Trilateral meeting between the FMs of Pakistan, China, and Afghanistan will also occur in Islamabad on May 6.
The meeting would focus on engaging Afghanistan in the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC).
Amir Khan Muttaqi, the acting foreign minister of Afghanistan, was granted permission to visit Pakistan earlier this year to meet with the foreign ministers of Pakistan and China after a committee of the UN Security Council approved a Pakistani request on Monday.
Under Security Council sanctions, Muttaqi has long been subject to a travel ban, asset freeze, and arms embargo.
