Everything we know about Alabama firing baseball coach Brad Bohannon amid a betting investigation
Alabama is in the process of firing baseball coach Brad Bohannon, the school announced in a short press release from Alabama athletic director Greg Byrne on Thursday, per The Tuscaloosa News‘ Nick Kelly.
The move comes on the heels of sports betting integrity monitors alerting states and sportsbooks about suspicious wagering activity involving Alabama’s game against LSU on April 28.
The alert prompted the Ohio Casino Control Commission to suspend betting on Alabama baseball Monday, and New Jersey and Pennsylvania followed suit, according to reports.
Byrne said Bohannon was being fired for “violating the standards, duties, and responsibilities expected of University employees.”
Statement from UA, part 2: "Bohannon has been relieved of all duties and Jason Jackson will serve as the interim head coach. There will be no further comment at this time pending an ongoing review.”

It’s unclear at this time what Bohannon’s involvement was in the alleged suspicious activity, if any. The university said there would be no further comment pending an ongoing review. The SEC is also investigating the matter.
[The Ohio Casino Control Commission] investigation is centered on two bets on the Tigers to win from the same unidentified customer, multiple industry sources told ESPN. Bohannon has not been connected to the bets. …
Ronnie Johns, executive director of the Louisiana Gaming Control Board, described one of the bets as “large” to NOLA.com and added that didn’t suspect anything suspicious regarding LSU.
“The problem,” Johns told NOLA.com, “would have been whether someone on the Alabama side was suspicious of activity.”
In April, Sports Illustrated reported Bohannon, pitching coach Jason Jackson and athletic trainer Sean Stryker were being sued by former pitcher Blake Bennett for “refusing medical care to a severely injured player.”
Jackson has been named interim head coach of the Crimson Tide effective immediately.
