Five-star Under 18s secure Floodlit League runners-up
Royal Wootton Bassett Town Under 18s secured runners-up spot in the Wiltshire League Floodlit Division for a second consecutive season courtesy of a resounding 5-1 win against Warminster Town.
The result, coupled with Radstock Town's 3-2 win against Calne Town, made certain of second place for Nick Warren's side.
Defeats in three of their previous four league fixtures - a run that included a pair of losses against Radstock - had eliminated Bassett's hopes of taking the title, which is in the hands of Kintbury Rangers.
With Calne and Radstock making a late surge, those losses also put in peril Bassett's chances of finishing second, despite the team going on a thirteen game unbeaten run to start their campaign.
Indeed, as well as needing to win their final fixture against Warminster, Bassett were reliant on results elsewhere going their way in order to claim honours.
A super display against Warminster ensured Bassett did what they had to do in style, with Radstock's narrow victory against Calne the icing on the cake of a triumphant night.
Jowan Partridge led the way with a brace, with Joe Beavis, Charlie Stammers and Joey Warren completing the scoring.
All is well that ends well for this talented group of players - many of who have already broken into the club's senior Men's sides - sealed an honours finish that an excellent season richly deserved.
