While eight teams held their rookie minicamp last week, the rest of the NFL had to wait until Friday to get its first look at the group of newly drafted players.
One of those teams was the Carolina Panthers, which hit the reset button this offseason at the game’s most important position by taking quarterback Bryce Young with the No. 1 pick in the 2023 NFL draft.
With a new era underway in Charlotte, the Panthers were certainly eager to see Young take the practice field for the first time in the black, blue and silver (though Young was wearing a red non-contact jersey).
Thanks to the Associated Press’ Steve Reed, we got to see the former Heisman-winning signal-caller from Alabama’s first snap — and throw — with his new team.

Many see the Panthers as a team that can have a quick turnaround in a downtrodden NFC South after trading up with Chicago to secure the top pick in the draft.
Young joins a solid roster that already included offensive weapons like Miles Sanders, DJ Chark Jr., Adam Thielen and Hayden Hurst. It also added a receiver in the draft with second-round pick Jonathan Mingo out of Ole Miss.
If he can handle the learning curve of the NFL, Young and the Panthers could make some noise in Year 1.
