The state's new excise policy has slashed duty on super-mild beer and ready-to-drink alcoholic beverages to promote drinks with low alcohol content, while duty on strong beer containing more than 5.5% alcohol, Indian-made foreign liquor (IMFL) and country liquor has increased. The new policy will come into effect from June 12.
