We live in a tiny two-bed house – six space-saving hacks you need if you want to make your home feel bigger
THE COST of living crisis has made it ever more difficult to find a good sized (and well priced) property to move into.
But this hasn’t stopped one couple from optimising the tiny two-bedroom house they do have.
And now, Char and Jake have shared the six hacks that have not only allowed them to save space but have also made their home feel bigger.
Taking to their social media channel, the pair invited viewers into their home before sharing how they made the “most of the space in our small 2 bed home”.
They then panned the camera over their stunning living room, which has grey carpets, white cupboards and matching artwork.
“TV onto the wall to create floor space and a cupboard either side for storage,” they wrote over this, bringing attention to the mounted flat screen television.
Behind the sofa, the pair built a small bar, complete with black velvet chairs and a statement clock on the wall above it.
“Narrow breakfast bar built in a wasted space,” they continued as they gave a short tour of their home.
Moving into the kitchen, they explained how they optimised the kitchen space by stalling floating shelves above the counters.
The shelves appear to be used for hanging cooking spoons and spatulas as well as storing tea, coffee and sugar, knives, salt and pepper.
“Kitchen shelves to keep the sides clear,” they wrote over this.
The third space-saving hack they discovered was “utilising backs of doors” as they opened a bottom cupboard in the kitchen to reveal hooks with cloths, which were labelled according to what they were used for: windows and glass, zoflora, bathroom and disinfectant.
Meanwhile, they installed extra shelves and bought storage boxes for some cupboards, which were also clearly labelled.
One box had ‘cereal’ written on the front while another had ‘crisps’ and a third was for ‘sweet snacks’.
Opening a bedroom door, they then shared: “IKEA PAX wardrobes for built-in storage look for a fraction of the price”.
And in the caption, TikTok users @littlerenoouse added: “Making the most of the space in our small two bed home! You don’t get much space in smaller homes (although our redrow has been roomier than most) [sic]
“So we’ve had to make the most of what we have, and I think we’ve managed to do really well.”
People were in awe of how they managed to utilise their small space as one person wrote: “your home is beautiful,” with a heart emoji.
Another said: “I love seeing more attainable, cosy houses like yours. So many houses on TikTok are huge and very expensive, very few for normal budgets.”
While a third shared: “Gorgeous home, enjoy all the memories you create,” with a smiling emoji.
