Spurs half time ratings vs Aston Villa – Second best to everything

0

Here’s how we rated the Tottenham Hotspur players following the opening forty-five minutes of action against Aston Villa in this afternoon’s Premier League clash.

Tottenham head into the break against Unai Emery’s side currently 1-0 behind following Jacob Ramsey’s early goal.

Fraser Forster: Could not do much to stop Ramsey’s goal.  Did well to deny Bailey from close range by getting down quickly to get his left hand to the ball. 6.

Pedro Porro: Played a loose pass that nearly saw Villa score a second through Bailey’s effort. 4.

Cristian RomeroLooked to have picked up a knock early on. 4.

Emerson Royal: Has offered nothing going forward and has looked uneasy at times when defending. 4.

Clement Lenglet: Summed up Tottenham’s first half when he passed the ball straight out for a throw-in. 3.

Ben Davies: Gave Bailey to much space to cut the ball back across the box for Ramsey’s opener. 4.

Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg: Has spent the half chasing McGinn’s shadow. 3.

Oliver Skipp: Has offered absolutely nothing with Villa dominating the midfield.  Lost the ball in the build-up to Buendia hitting the crossbar. 3.

Heung-min Son: Would have breathed a sigh of release when he could only hit the bar when one-on-one with Martinez, only for the offside flag to go up. 4.

Richarlison: Has struggled to beat the offside trap with Villa playing such a high line. 4.

Harry Kane: Operating primarily as the playmaker with Son and Richarlison ahead of him, but has not been able to put his stamp on the game. 5.
