The recently-concluded Karnataka state elections, which saw the Congress party triumph over the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), prove that Prime Minister Narendra Modi and his tactics of divisiveness and polarisation can be defeated, according to senior Congress leader Jairam Ramesh. The BJP had campaigned heavily on Modi's popularity in the state but failed to field a credible local leader.
