Big Sam post Newcastle
A fair scoreline would have been a victory for us. Spirit we showed and commitment, at 2-0 we would have gone on. Silly penalties.
Stayed in the game, very good. Shot ourselves n the foot quite often, but showed enough to say if we cut out those mistakes we can get three points. Playing third in the league and should have won it. Our fault we did not win bu missing a penalty and giving two away.
Bamford penalty?
Left it how it was. Hadn't seen any of them taking penalties. I would have thought Rodrigo would have snatched it away if really wanted it. That puts you under even more pressure to score. It can happen to anybody. Happened to us at the worst possible time.
Koch in midfield?
My job to do that. People playing in that position have the ability that Robin has and also the defensive nous means he can make the play happen and stop the opposition with his experience. Terrific asset in that role today. Better when Adam came in alongside him. Young Sam, did the best he could, butgot more possession when Adam came in and pushed Weston forward.
To the wire?
Wanted that. We have t keep our fingers crossed today and tomorrow on the others. We are near that position of let's hope other slip up. Not in our hands, in theirs.
Your mind during those penalties at either end?
First pen disappointing becaue all week it's stay on your feet in the final third, especially in the ox. Happened last week with Pascal and he got a bollocking at the end for diving in. Giving goals away. Cannot afford that because we are not prolific at the other end. Players under pressure lost it at that moment. 'He believed he could win the ball.
Second I am into sure about. Gone either way. Push or not? Tug? Not been given and nothing I can do.
My emotions?
Needed two valium when I came off. Nervous before the game. What the lads gave for me and the staff and the fans, gave us hope going forward. Tried their very best today
