Appeal hearing set
on plans for home
A home construction project approved by the Planning Commission has been appealed to the City Council.
The property owner wants to demolish the one-story, 1,258-square-foot residence at 93 Magnolia Ave. and build a two-story, 2,400-square-foot home with a reconfigured driveway. The Planning Commission approved the application in April.
James Holmes, who lives on Madrone Avenue, filed the appeal.
“The Appellant specifically takes issue with the approved U-shaped driveway design, which would allow for two-curb cuts on Magnolia Avenue, citing evidence that approval would be a grant of special privilege,” city planner Jackie Oneal wrote in a report to the council.
Holmes also argued that the plan takes away a public parking space, and that the Planning Commission failed to take public comment because of a “technical ‘glitch.'”
The council has set a hearing on the appeal for its meeting starting at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday, June 7, at City Hall. Teleconference access instructions and project details are online at shorturl.at/acjtS.
