Charlie Kirk worries aloud that an insurrection charge could stop Trump in 2024
Right-wing influencer Charlie Kirk darkly predicted to his audience Tuesday that the Department of Justice plans to indict Donald Trump on insurrection charges that could keep him off the 2024 ballot.
Kirk, recently in the news for having a registered sex offender as a key benefactor, laid out his warning while paying homage to Trump and attacking RINO Republicans on his daily “Charlie Kirk Show.” A clip was captured on Trump’s Truth Social platform.
“If you really want to game this out, if Donald Trump is facing federal charges, he can still be a felon, run, and win the presidency,” Kirk said. “He cannot run and win the presidency if he is charged with insurrection or something adjacent to insurrection, which is likely going to be the next indictment."
“So, if we’re going to map this out, they’re going to try to get him on documents, and then they’re going to do Georgia, probably in August, (Fulton County DA) Fani Willis. And then they’re probably going to get him on some sort of ridiculous incitement of insurrection or incitement to overthrow the United States."
The Turning Point USA founder continues:
“And as ridiculous and baseless as that is, they’re going to file that in D.C. and they can basically get whatever they want in D.C. Meanwhile, we sit idly by, and we wait, and we listen, and we wait.”
To drive home the point, Kirk used Gov. Doug Burgum (R-ND) as a strawman, ridiculing his entry into the presidential race with a promise to be a “good listener.”
After airing and deriding Burgum’s first campaign ad, Kirk circled back to his apocalyptic warning that “They’re coming for Trump! They’re coming hard! And the alternative is a better listener, Doug Burgum?”
Kirk’s gloom-and-doom forecasts may never come to fruition, but his bitter diatribe was soothing to non-MAGA ears
“We’re not even playing checkers. Democrats are playing chess. We’re playing pattycake. We’re playing rock paper scissors. We’re not even on the same terrain. The whole thing’s a joke.”
