The Nation's Weather
The Nation's Weather for Wednesday, June 7, 2023
_____
NATIONAL SUMMARY
A dip in the jet stream will continue a cool and dry weather
pattern today for much of the Northeast and Midwest, except
for showers in New England. Breezes will direct smoke from
large wildfires in Canada southward. The smoke will dim and
block the sun at times, as well as lead to thick haze and
poor air quality. Meanwhile, warmer conditions will extend
across the Southern states and through the Plains and
Rockies where pockets of thunderstorms will erupt. The rain
can help to ease drought in parts of the Plains. As heat
builds in the Northwest, a pocket of cool air associated
with a Pacific storm will bring locally severe thunderstorms
to parts of California, Nevada and southern Oregon today.
Spotty dry thunderstorms in the Northeast and later in the
Northwest may trigger wildfires due to building drought.
