I can make $80,000 from my ‘lazy girl job’ – it’s the soft life for me and you can too, there are lots of ways to do it
A TIKTOKER is advocating for women to get ‘lazy girl jobs’ which she claims can pay more than the average salary and give more freedom.
The self-described “anti-work girl boss” believes that she has found a solution for women struggling with burnout and an unbalanced lifestyle.
Gabrielle Judge (@gabrielle_judge) runs a TikTok channel in which she says she wants to “dismantle corporate America” and advises women how to “have fun and be you.”
The 26-year-old has posted a series of videos about “lazy girl jobs” which tell women how to avoid the stresses and burdens of corporate life.
In one video, Gabrielle claims that these roles can see women earn up to $80,000, work remotely, and not work a standard nine to five.
She explains: “There’s a lot of jobs out there where you could make like 60k to 80k and not do that much work and be remote.
“Most of them are non-technical roles such as marketing associate, some type of account manager…”
She added that she is “only accepting the soft life.”
According to the career advisor, roles that fall under this term mean they are flexible, well-paying, and nontechnical.
Gabrielle added that there should be no late hours and makes childcare a non-issue “because you have this easy job that’s extremely flexible and there’s no start or end time.”
One viewer who works for a cable manufacturer in customer service said that she earns $57,000 “and I basically reply to emails all day.”
She added: “Sometimes I have busy days but the majority of the time I’m reading a book…”
The advice given on the TikTok page is aimed at women, as Gabrielle admits she cannot speak for the male experience.
The TikToker expresses her belief that “women are not meant to live paycheck to paycheck.”
She adds that “there’s so much to us, we’re so multifaceted” and so when you have a high-pressure job including those that are “very laborious on our bodies…we’re just not operating at our fullest potential.”
After receiving some backlash from people saying that she was privileged for such thinking and that it’s not available to everyone, she further clarified the term.
She explained: “It is not about getting paid for not doing your job. It’s about getting a career you can do your job at and then leave.
“No working overtime from peer pressure. No taking on growth opportunities to barely get a raise. It’s all about true work-life balance.”
Meanwhile, viewers continued to hit back saying that the so-called lazy girl jobs she mentioned are “physically ‘easy’ but mentally draining.”
One said: “It’s very hard to get these jobs though.”
Another replied: “If you don’t have a few years of fully remote 5-10+ years of super targeted experience… your resume doesn’t even…”
The initial commenter responded: “Literally! Yet people on TikTok make it seem so easy Lmaooo to just get one of these 60k jobs.”
Gabrielle replied to the comment about lazy girl jobs being mentally draining.
She claimed that work is supposed to be boring, saying: “Your work feels mentally draining because it’s boring.
“Entertainment and fulfillment aren’t the goals of your job. The goal is to get done with work so you can go do the things that make you emotionally fulfilled.
“The lazy girl era is about understanding the transaction of your job and gaining your freedom and happiness back independently.”
Once again, viewers were divided.
Some praised the idea of “decentering work from my life” but others said that fulfillment in work is part of living a happy life.
“I had a boring job and it drained me more than doing something fulfilling,” one wrote.
