Ted Lasso drops huge hint show is returning for season four but without huge star – just days after emotional final
TED Lasso has dropped a huge hint the show is returning for another season but without a huge star.
The Apple TV series tells the story of a recently divorced club owner who deliberately employs a useless coach in order to sabotage the team – AFC Richmond.
But the ruse – designed to get back at her cheating ex-husband who loves the club – doesn’t quite go to plan.
Just days after season three came to an end bosses have teased the show will return.
Posting on Twitter, Apple TV shared an image of the show and said: “Smells like potential.”
However, Jason Sudeikis, who plays Ted, is missing from the teaser image.
It’s left fans worried the star won’t be coming back.
Nick Mohammed also shared the image along with a zipped-mouth emoji.
“Not TED LASSO having its big finale last week only to immediately start teasing a new season with everybody except for its lead,” said one fan.
Another said: “They’re playing with fire. It’s one of my favorite shows right now because it wrapped up.”
Jason previously revealed how the show was always only meant to be three series.
He said: “The fact that folks will want more and are curious beyond more than what they don’t even know yet — that being Season 3 — it’s flattering.
“Maybe by May 31, once all 12 episodes of the season [have been released], they’re like, ‘Man, you know what, we get it, we’re fine. We don’t need anymore, we got it.’ But until that time comes, I will appreciate the curiosity beyond what we’ve come up with so far.”
