Mike Pence barely mentions time as Trump's VP in campaign bio
Mike Pence left some important bullet points off his campaign résumé.
The former vice president devoted only two sentences to serving as Donald Trump's running mate and veep in the biography posted on his 2024 presidential campaign, essentially rushing through the years 2017-2021 and the most important job he's ever held.
"It was Indiana’s success story, Vice President Pence’s record of legislative and executive experience, and his strong family values that prompted President Trump to select Mike Pence as his running mate in July 2016," the bio reads. "They were elected by the American people on November 8, 2016 and entered office on January 20, 2017."
The bio refers to him as "Vice President Pence" throughout, for a total of 17 times – almost as many times as it mentions Indiana, where he served as governor, a job which gets two meaty paragraphs touting his accomplishments.
Trump's name appears three times – exactly as many references as the word "Hoosiers" – but one of those refers more to the administration, and Pence's service there, rather than the twice-impeached individual.
"The Heritage Foundation helped shape Vice President Mike Pence’s conservative philosophy for decades and played a pivotal role advancing conservative policies throughout the Trump Administration," the bio states. "Vice President Pence also joined Young America’s Foundation as the Ronald Reagan Presidential Scholar. Long before Mike Pence became Vice President to President Trump, the vision and leadership of Ronald Reagan inspired his youth."
