I’m an ex gymnast – revealing leotards taught me how to shave my bikini line without bumps and rashes
LOTS of women know only too well how uncomfortable it can be when your bikini line gets irritated.
But a former gymnast called Lara said she has learnt how to shave without getting bumps or rashes thanks to years of having to wear revealing leotards.
Now, she’s sharing her step-by-step shaving method to help others out there – and she says she’s more than happy to provide her tips.
In a helpful video posted to her TikTok account @mi_elskincare, Lara explained: “Welcome to shave school where I teach you all the steps for a smooth and bump free bikini line.”
She went on to ask: “Have you ever wondered how gymnasts got their bikini line so smoothly shaved and bump free? I’m going to teach you.
“I’m a former Team Canada gymnast and I have really dark hair and I would have to shave every day.”
Lara then put up a picture of her wearing a revealing leotard that cut up into the bikini line and showed everything.
And she said it was for this reason that she had to quickly learn how to shave in the right way.
Lara explained: “First things first, you need to exfoliate. I use the Mi-el Honey infused sugar scrub.
“Because it’s sugar, it doesn’t irritate you – it dissolves really, really smoothly and this has specific oils in it that will help prevent razor bumps and it will also leave you feeling hydrated.”
Next up, she said she cleansed her body with La Roche Posay Lipid Replenishing Cleansing Oil or the cream.
She continued: “I also use this as shaving cream. Yes, it might be a little expensive, but I’m telling you, literally follow every single step of this and you won’t get razor bumps anymore.”
Once the first two steps were completed, Lara said it was time to reach for your razor of choice – and she recommended Gillette’s Venus.
She added: “On my bikini line, I will pull up and shave done. I don’t go over the same spot multiple times and I find that by pulling my skin and shaving, it gives me the closest shave.”
Another of her top tips was when you should be doing this process, as Lara maintained that she likes to shave “at the very end of my shower.”

While other recommendations included changing your razor blade about every six shaves.
But she insisted that aftercare is just as important as the prep.
Lara explained: “Beekini oil – this literally is a lifesaver. I apply this on my bikini line every day.
“It helps prevent razor bumps, ingrown hairs, and even if you do have them, it will calm them down a lot and prevent redness of inflammation.
“And lastly, I lock everything in with the Mi-el bump bee gone cream. This really, really helps.”
