Report: Levy may be tempted to sell Kane for lower fee than previously reported

The Daily Mail have claimed that Daniel Levy could be tempted into selling Harry Kane to Real Madrid for £80m plus add-ons this window.

The report states that while Harry Kane is wanted by both Real Madrid and Manchester United, Levy remains ‘adamant’ that the striker is not for sale this summer even though he has just one year left on his contract.

However, this is not thought to have deterred either Madrid or Man Utd who are primed to launch offers for the England captain, with Los Blancos said to have an advantage due to the Spurs chairman’s reluctance to sell the striker to another Premier League side.

The Mail assert that there are doubts at Tottenham over whether Real would be able to pay anywhere near their £100m valuation this summer, particularly since the La Liga giants are expected to sign Jude Bellingham from Borussia Dortmund for a similar fee.

There is said to be a sense at the North London club that even if they soften their stance, Madrid would be reluctant to spend a nine-figure sum on Kane.

Finally, the report asserts that an offer of around £80m plus achievable add-ons could be accepted by Levy but only later in the transfer window.

This comes as Alfredo Pedulla reports that Spurs and Madrid have an agreement in principle for a fee of around €80-90m plus add-ons for the striker, and a move is now ‘very close’.

We will likely get more clarity on Kane’s future over the coming weeks once Postecoglou speaks with the centre-forward and the club discuss the option of a new deal with him.

I suspect that the most likely scenario is that the striker will reject any new contract offer but would want to see out his current deal and leave on a free next summer.
