The 1975’s Matty Healy issues on-stage apology days after splitting from Taylor Swift
HER loyal fans knew the writing was on the wall as soon as she started dating bad boy rocker Matty Healy.
Now Taylor Swift can see it for herself after The 1975 frontman scrawled “Sorry” in huge letters on to the stage backdrop at his gig, just 48 hours after the couple had called things quits following a whirlwind romance.
During the group’s show at St Anne’s Park in Dublin on Wednesday, Matty performed an acoustic solo set after their support act
Caroline Polachek was forced to pull out due to health issues.
In black spray paint, Matty penned the note and a question mark on to a white sheet as bandmate Jamie Squire sang a cover of Leon Russell’s A Song For You.
But it appeared that instead of pouring his emotions into his songs, Matty was later drowning his sorrows after messing up on stage while sinking too many pints of Guinness.
Gazing at the glass of ale in his hand, he told the crowd: “It is not even normal, it is just because it is so nice.
“But you drink so much of it like it is some kind of milk that then you forget the songs so I came in at the wrong time then.
“I thought it was quite dramatic as well, I was making my way over here and it was all eye contact and just a p****d bloke.”
However fans noticed that drummer George Daniel and guitarist Adam Hann — appeared to be concerned about the slip as they were seen whispering while Matty stumbled around the stage.
Later, the It’s Not Living singer was desperate for a cigarette and asked the backstage crew to find them in the pocket of the laboratory coat he often wears on stage.
Zig-zagging across the stage, Matty lit one and paused to take a long drag before continuing with the set.
But he was not the only one whose emotions were running high this week.
Taylor’s fans noticed her voice cracking as she sat down at the piano during a gig in Chicago as part of her Eras Tour.
The US megastar performed I Don’t Wanna Live Forever from 2017 hit movie Fifty Shades Darker, which starred Dakota Johnson.
Taylor, who originally recorded the track with Zayn Malik looked bleary-eyed, when she sang the lyrics: “Wondering if I dodged a bullet, or just lost the love of my life?”
If anything good comes from this, at least we can count on some powerful heartbreak anthems from both of them.
LIZZO: PAL HARRY’S A REAL GEM
SHE is well-known for her tracks about self-love.
But Lizzo has revealed that the love she has received from Harry Styles has made her world complete.
The Juice hitmaker revealed to Biz on Sunday that Harry has a “wonderful aura” and has been her greatest supporter.
She said: “Harry makes the world a better place and his friendship makes my world a better place.
“I genuinely believe that when you are true to yourself you will attract the right friendships into your life.
“People who will support you, advise you, who will believe in you – having a friend who genuinely believes in you is one of the most powerful things a person can have.”
PADDY’S GOAL IS TO RELAX
PADDY McGUINNESS has admitted he is happy to be in goal this year – as it means less running around.
The Top Gear presenter, who played his first game in the annual charity match 13 years ago, told me: “Being in the nets it is a different vibe – it is a bit more relaxed.
“The goalkeepers like David Seaman say, ‘Don’t bother with the running about’, and I am like, ‘I like this!’
“I am fully embracing the laziness of it but I am hoping that when I come on in the second half we will probably be around two up, so there won’t be as much pressure.”
CHEEK OUT CARDI’S ROSY GLOW
THERE are few music stars as CHEEKY as Cardi B.
The rapper proves her pert behind is a bed of roses with her latest Instagram shoot, which also shows off her rainbow hair art.
It comes after the WAP hitmaker recently opened up about having her butt injections removed as she was in pain.
She said: “I got 95 per cent of them removed. It was a really crazy process.”
Cardi hasn’t taken a complete break from cosmetic surgery though, recently admitting to having had a nose job.
She nose best . . .
