Taylor Swift should turn her back on British men indefinitely like me – she won’t regret it and here’s why
FOLLOWING a short romance, Taylor Swift has split with 1975 frontman Matty Healy.
And he is the fifth British bloke she has broken up with.
So Claire Dunwell and Yasmin Harish ask . . . are Brit blokes dream lovers …or should you tay goodbye?
Make a Swift exit, says Samantha Brick, who’s wed to Frenchman Pascal
SAMANTHA, 52, has turned her back on British men indefinitely and now lives with her French husband, Pascal, 62, in Monpazier, southwest France.
She says: “Picture the scene. It’s a first date and you’re taken to a fancy restaurant with a fairy light-festooned terrace and soft, romantic music playing in the background.
You’re handed the wine menu and your date encourages you to choose.
This isn’t dating Blighty style.
No, this was back in the Nineties and Noughties when I was with the men of Los Angeles.
No British bloke would put in that amount of effort to impress a woman.
I know this because I’ve dated dozens of them and had sex with a fair few, too.
They rarely bother to shower, keep their socks on during sex and, far too often, the sort I came across laid back and thought of England (probably the team) while I did the work under the covers.
Wined and dined
Yes, they’re feminists when it comes to going halves on the cost of holidays and the rent but the inner caveman quickly rears its head if it involves a loo brush or even taking out the bins.
That’s why I’m not surprised Taylor Swift has kicked yet another British bloke into touch.
She was probably wooed by the accent and quirky British pubs.
However, the harsh reality of what life looks like with a Brit boy no doubt set in, and she bolted.
When it comes to experiencing the pitfalls of a UK fella, I have been there and got the Union Jack T-shirt.
One dinner I had with a date at a restaurant in London’s Soho, and I spent the evening listening to him honk about the sink taps he was buying for his house.
In my twenties, I dated a man who treated me like his taxi service to the pub to watch football with his mates.
During my late twenties, as I partied my way around Europe and the Far East with girlfriends, my eyes were opened about what I was missing.
I met a South African guy who took me for romantic walks on the beach and insisted on getting me safely back to my hotel.
Then I found a Canadian dreamboat who paid for everything, while the Spanish hottie played guitar to me seductively.
And not forgetting the Pretty Woman-esque businessman from New York who bought me a dress for our date.
In my early thirties I lapped up LA for a year and it was there that I was properly wined and dined.
Sixteen years ago, I had a holiday romance with my Frenchie Pascal who ticked every marital box.
He cooks, he cleans, has zero interest in sport and he treats me like a goddess.
What British woman, hand on heart, can say that about her bloke? Very few.
Taylor, next time you swoon at the sound of an English accent, remember this — he’ll doubtless develop a dad bod and he’ll only ever truly love footie.
Brits are best says dancer Kristina Rihanoff who fell for fiancé Ben Cohen after meeting on Strictly dancefloor
KRISTINA, 45, is engaged to former England rugby player Ben, 44.
The Russian, has daughter Mila, seven, with him.
She says: “Just like British blokes do, I’m going to get straight to the point. When it comes to dating men in the UK, you get what you are given — and what’s not to love about that?
They’re the perfect package, delivering extreme charm and sophistication.
They’re famous for their sense of humour.
You’ll find no other nationalities sparking jokes like British blokes do.
After living in America from 2001 to 2010, I can truly say their men are nowhere near as desirable.
Whenever I’d meet a guy from the UK, I was always fascinated and attracted to their strong royal accent and humour.
Every woman craves their own James Bond — the classic British man who is sexually confident and isn’t pushed around.
I am so lucky I have found my Ben.
Like other British lads, he is a solid bloke who is sure of himself.
That means, when it comes to relationships, he doesn’t want to be the star of the show which is what I think is important for Taylor too.
She needs a guy who is willing to put her on the pedestal and allow her to continue being the fantastic woman she is, going on all these world tours, and you won’t find it anywhere else.
After leaving Strictly and having our daughter Mila, I went on a national tour around the country twice and Ben was so supportive, holding the whole family on his shoulders.
Brits are family men, can hold the fort and are great team players when it comes to relationships.
Their love for watching sports like football and rugby is so alluring.
Being a national rugby player, Ben obviously has a passion for it.
I’ve never found it unattractive that he can’t miss a match.
British men see things through until the end and losing is never an option.
Plus, British guys are never shy of a compliment as they know how to communicate, and are comfortable with their emotional side.
Plus they know how to wine and dine a woman.
Taylor, don’t give up on the English boys — sometimes you have to kiss a few frogs to get your Prince Charming.
