Per Michael Mayer of Metsmerized Online, right-handed pitcher Stephen Ridings made his second rehab appearance on Saturday for the St. Lucie Mets in Port St. Lucie on Marvel Defenders of the Diamonds Night (as seen on the custom jersey). He threw a 1-2-3 inning with a strikeout, retiring the Daytona Tortugas in order.
According to Healey of Newsday Sports, Buck Showalter called a team meeting prior to Saturday’s game to express his anger and disappointment in the Mets’ recent performance. The result? They came back to defeat the Pirates 5-1 on Saturday afternoon.
Per MLB Stats, Francisco Álvarez is ranked No. 4 on the list of match catcher blocks above average in 2023 with +6 blocks.
The Mets on Saturday announced the following roster moves prior to the game against the Pirates:
- RHP Tommy Hunter was designated for assignment.
- LHP Zach Muckenhirn was optioned to Triple-A Syracuse
- RHP John Curtiss was recalled from Triple-A.
- LHP Josh Walker was also recalled from Triple-A.
According to Joel Sherman of the New York Post, Steve Cohen said he is “not going to blow up” or “make big changes” over the Mets’ latest skid, saying he is just as frustrated as everyone else as well.
