Not Time To Gamble – Leeds Legend Comments On Managerial Search
Brendan Rodgers was believed to be Leeds’ top target but he is now set to be appointed as the new Celtic manager this week.
Leeds’ new owners are taking a look at several other names and former Norwich City boss Daniel Farke and ex-Bournemouth and Fulham manager Scott Parker are believed to be on their radar.
Both have worked in English football and have experience of getting teams promoted to the Premier League from the Championship.
Dorigo believes that the names getting linked with the Leeds job are a positive because the club are looking at people who have experience of managing in the Championship.
He conceded that clubs can take a gamble on players but he is happy to see Leeds not taking any chances when it comes to the managers they are looking at as the club need someone with experience who can build a foundation for the future.
The former White wrote in his column for the Yorkshire Evening Post: “I think the names getting bandied around are positive, very positive.
“What I also quite like is that most of them, or nearly all the ones that are being talked about, understand English football, have experience at the right level that is required and can come in and hit the ground running so we’re not gambling.
“I think you could probably take a little bit more of a gamble with players but simply with a manager, we don’t want to be doing that.
“This is not the time to gamble.
“This is the time to get back to a solid foundation and really build the future that someone certainly leading the team, has had experience and all those people [Farke, Parker] have so that’s a real positive.”
Leeds are looking at a squad overhaul this summer and are prioritising bringing in a new manager soon.
