I found houseplants that catch fruit flies, gnats, and mosquitos – they won my heart, it’s not a Venus flytrap
A GARDENER has shared plants that have won her over.
She said she’s obsessed with the houseplant that catches fruit flies, gnats, and mosquitoes.
Rosanne Becker (@rosannebecker) shared the carnivorous houseplant recommendation with over 130,000 TikTok followers.
“These plants totally won me over when they showed me just how good they are at catching fruit flies and fungus gnats,” she said.
She was even more floored when the houseplant took it one step above and beyond.
“But when they started catching the mosquitoes that get into the house, oh now they own my heart,” she joked.
“Butterworts for the win!!” she said.
People took to the comments to share their thoughts.
Many had questions about the plants and the bugs.
“Okay but like… do the bodies stay on there forever or do you have to eventually pick them off?” asked one viewer.
“They stay there for a couple of weeks while the plant digests it,” she replied.
“Then that leaf dies and gets cut off as new leaves grow in from the center.”
Others were easily convinced: “Gotta get some Butterwort plants,” said one commenter.
“I adore carnivorous plants, they are fascinating,” agreed another.
