Paphos police arrest suspect in hotel theft case
The Paphos district court issued a two-day detention order against a 29-year-old woman, for allegedly breaking into a hotel room and stealing electronics.
According to police spokesman Michalis Nikolaou, on June 5, a French tourist reported that between midnight and 9.00am electronic items, valued at €4,400 euros, were stolen from his hotel room. CCTV footage revealed two persons as the suspected perpetrators, who appear to have entered through the balcony door, which was closed but not locked.
On June 16, the stolen iPhone was found to be receiving a signal from a Paphos location, which was traced as the address of the 29-year-old woman’s home.
Police placed the woman under a two-day house arrest. The stolen iPhone was located and seized as evidence while investigations continue to locate the other stolen items.
