'In a heartbeat': Man Utd ace urges club to sign Tottenham & West Ham stars
Manchester United defender Luke Shaw has said that he would love to see Tottenham Hotspur striker Harry Kane and West Ham United midfielder Declan Rice joining the club this summer.
The Red Devils have been heavily linked with Kane and Rice over the past few weeks, but the club have yet to make a formal bid for either player.
With England’s next game at Old Trafford this week, Shaw recently posted pictures with Kane and Rice on Instagram with the caption: ‘Carrington tour’.
When asked about his social media update, Shaw clarified that he was ‘half-joking’, but he would take the ‘world-class’ duo at United ‘in a heartbeat’.
He said: “Yes, I was half-joking. But it is a bit of both. I know they are both world-class players and I don’t know what is going on at their clubs but if it was down to me, I would take them in a heartbeat.”
Kane was identified as manager Erik ten Hag’s prime striker target, but United have recently ended their interest due to the high transfer costs involved.
The Red Devils also don’t want to enter into a long transfer saga with Spurs chairman Daniel Levy, who is reluctant to negotiate with a direct league rival.
Hence, it makes sense for the club to look elsewhere. Benfica’s Goncalo Ramos could be an option.
Meanwhile, United have yet to make an approach for Hammers captain Rice. Ten Hag is reportedly ‘angry‘ that the club have now entered the race for him.
The Dutch tactician believes he could be a perfect addition to the squad and has been desperate to make an offer, but the club have a limited budget for now.
United could revive their interest in the duo with a potential takeover but as things stand, they are exploring alternate targets in the transfer market.
