Russian opposition leader, Alexei Navalny, who is currently serving a nine-year sentence for fraud and contempt of court in a maximum-security prison, is facing a new trial for extremism charges. Navalny has rejected the charges as “absurd” and claims that they could keep him in prison for another 30 years. The new charges relate to the activities of his anti-corruption foundation and statements by his top associates.
