Report: Spurs player has not yet decided whether to accept new contract offer
Football.London have revealed that despite being offered a new deal by Tottenham Hotspur, academy midfielder Nile John is contemplating his future at the club.
John has been at Tottenham since the age of seven and came through the age group ranks at the club before making his first-team debut as a 17-year-old in a Europa League knockout match against Wolfsberger AC back in 2021.
The central midfielder was handed his first senior start for Spurs by Nuno Espirito Santo in the Europa Conference League qualifier at Pacos de Ferreira at the start of the 2021-22 season but he saw his first-team opportunities dry up following the arrival of Antonio Conte.
The 20-year-old was a key player for the Under-21s this season, making 28 appearances across all competitions, but his contract at the North London club runs out at the end of this month (Trasfermarkt).
Nile John is still deciding over Tottenham contract
Despite this, John’s name was not part of the list of players released by the club on Thursday, which included the likes of Jamie Bowden, Kallum Cesay, and Malachi Fagan-Walcott.
Football.London claim that John’s absence from that list means he has not yet formally rejected the club’s contract offer, which was made earlier this year.
However, it is revealed that clubs across Europe, including the likes of Brighton, Basel and Cercle Brugge, have been keeping a close eye on the versatile midfielder.

Tottenham will be hoping that Ange Postecoglou’s arrival would convince the likes of John and the other top young prospects to commit their futures to the club.
Unlike some of his predecessors, the Australian has a history of trusting young players and helping them develop.
