Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg offers honest opinion of his future at Spurs amid links to move elsewhere
When asked about the speculation linking him with a move to Bayern Munich, Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg has admitted that his future is out of his hands.
It has emerged over the past couple of weeks that Hojbjerg’s future at Tottenham is in doubt, with The Sun reporting on 13 June that the Dane is not seen as a good stylistic fit for Ange Postecoglou.
The publication suggested the feeling within Spurs is the midfielder was more suited to a counter-attacking system, which is why he faces an uncertain future under the Australian who recently took over as Antonio Conte‘s successor.
This was followed by an update from 90 min last week, which suggested that Hojbjerg would be ‘allowed to leave’ Spurs if a suitable offer comes the way of the North London club.
Bild’s Bayern Insider podcast then asserted a few days ago that the Bayern Munich hierarchy have internally discussed the idea of bringing Hojbjerg back to Bavaria.
The Tottenham man has now chosen to keep his cards close to his chest when asked about a potential return to the Allianz Arena.
Hojbjerg speaks about his future at Spurs
When quizzed on the speculation linking him with a move to the Bundesliga giants, the 27-year-old told Ekstra Bladet: “What’s lucky is that we play an international match tomorrow. So, my focus is there. What comes next is fortunately not in my hands.
“What I can focus on is what needs to be done tomorrow. I have spoken before about my time in Munich, but right now I have nothing to say about it.”
Spurs Web Opinion
These are certainly not the words of a man who is convinced that he is staying at Tottenham. Based on this statement, I get the feeling that Hojbjerg has heard from his agent that Spurs are listening to offers from him.
I suspect that if the decision were up to the 27-year-old, he would probably want to stay at Tottenham and prove that he can adapt to Ange Postecoglou’s style of play.
