'They would rather be victims than winners': Morning Joe buries GOP's Trump dead-enders
MSNBC's Joe Scarborough frequently reminds viewers of Donald Trump's losing record, but he said some Republicans must prefer feeling like a victim than being a winner.
The ex-president's chief GOP rival, Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis, took aim at Trump's losing record during a speech in Nevada, and the "Morning Joe" host said it's long past time for other Republicans to move on from him if they want to start winning elections.
"I have to say, the DeSantis message to the Republican primary is right on," Scarborough said. "Think what you want about Donald Trump, here's the deal -- he loses. Like, you can have a football coach that you love to take out to dinner, tells the funniest stories, has you laughing for an hour and a half, but you get killed every Saturday afternoon, your team gets run over every Saturday afternoon. If you want to win the NCAA championship, you have to get somebody in there that knows how to win. This guy has lost six, seven, eight elections in a row."
"It's like, again, what's crazy is, no organization, certainly not the Republican Party that I used to be a part of, would put up with a loser that loses in '17, '18, '19, '20, '21, '22, '23," he added. "Yet, they're still embracing a loser because they would rather be victims than winners."
