I’m a 45-year-old beauty whizz but people think I’m a decade younger – the five things that are making you look older
AN AGE-DEFYING beauty whizz has revealed the five things that make people look older.
Aesthetic physician assistant Nicole Smith, 47, who is often mistaken for being in her 20s, regularly shares her top beauty and anti-ageing tips and tricks online.
In a recent TikTok (@lipsandlattes) post, she offered a run-down of five things that make people look older – and first up, is facial fat loss.
“As we age, the fat pads in our face shrink and will naturally lose support and begin to sag,” she explains.
“This fat loss will also make the face look more gaunt and more aged.”
Next up is bone loss.
“Our bones lose density even in our face,” Nicole explains.
“This can lead to loss of definition of our cheeks, jawline or other areas of the face.”

According to Nicole, the third thing that can make people look older is muscle changes.
“Muscles in our face also change, becoming weaker and less toned,” she says.
“This can lead to facial sagging and wrinkles.
“When the internal structures of the face begin to shrink, this is when you start to see facial drooping and sagging.
“There’s this misconception that ageing happens because of gravity, but there are so many other factors that determine why we’re ageing.
“Facial volume loss is the key reason why your face is ageing.”
The beauty whizz notes that at number four, and probably one of the obvious, is skin changes.
“The skin becomes thinner and less elastic, leading to fine lines and wrinkles,” she says.
Finally, Nicole concludes by discussing collagen loss.
“We can also see a loss in volume to the face due to a decrease in collagen,” she says.
“By the age if 35 you’ve lost 50% of your collagen.
“Collagen keeps our skin looking plump and youthful.
“The most important thing with anti-ageing is to maintain your facial volume.
“Collagen building treatments like sculptra or bio-stimulators will help maintain natural facial volume as you age,” she claims.
“As well as lasers or mechanical treatments like micro needling, these create micro wounds in the skin that will build collagen, keep your skin looking bouncy and healthy and young.”
