Emmerdale actor axed for threatening to stab a co-star wins role in Disney Christmas film against all odds
SACKED Emmerdale actor Asan N’jie has bagged a role in a new Disney movie.
The lad, 28, was axed from the ITV soap back in 2019 after he threatened to stab rival soap star Jamie Lomas, 48, at the TV Choice awards.
In a row that rocked soapland, the pair reportedly got into a scuffle backstage.
Asan was caught on camera saying to the Hollyoaks star: “Do you think you are a f***ing big man? I’m going to f***ing kill you.”
He reportedly could then be heard whispering: “I’m going to f***ing knife you.”
The fracas lost him his role as Ellis Chapman on the ITV soap, but now he’s moved on to bigger things.
Asan will star alongside John Travolta in Disney’s Christmas movie The Shepherd.
It will follow the story of a fighter pilot who on Christmas Eve gets lost on his way home.
The story is based on the novel from Frederick Forsyth, who was once the youngest pilot of the Royal Airforce – but is not thought to be based on a true story.
Since leaving Emmerdale under a cloud, Asan has starred in BBC1’s Bloodlands alongside Jamie Dornan and Fortunes of War for Prime Video.
The scuffle backstage in 2019 reportedly began when Asan was said to have hurled a “completely unprovoked” slur at Jamie.
It left the lad’s career in tatters.
At the time he said: “My behaviour at the TV Choice Awards was completely unacceptable and very much out of character.
“I sincerely apologise to everybody who has been affected, especially Jamie Lomas, the whole Emmerdale team, our audience, ITV, my family, and the organisers of the TV Choice Awards.
“I am devastated, accept full responsibility for my actions and I am determined to learn from this.”
Later, it was alleged that the row began over a financial dispute when Asan left Jamie’s theatrical agency.
At the time, an insider explained: “Jamie had guided this young lad’s career and was responsible for him landing a gig in Emmerdale.
“However since then, he has decided he wants to leave Jamie’s agency, which Jamie is fine with, but he wants the commission he is owed.
“He is entitled to this money but it’s currently the subject of a private and personal dispute.”
