Report: 18-year-old and 20-year-old offered new contracts by Tottenham
Football.London have revealed that Tottenham academy midfielders Matthew Craig and Dante Cassanova have both been offered new contracts at Hotspur Way.
After Spurs announced the list of players leaving the club last week, which included the likes of Jamie Bowden, Kallum Cesay, Malachi Fagan-Walcott, and Romaine Mundle, it was Football.London who picked up on the fact that Nile John’s name was not on the list.
The publication explained that this was because John had been offered a new deal by the club earlier this year and was still contemplating whether to sign it or not amidst interest from other clubs, including Brighton and Basel.
Matthew Craig has a Spurs contract on the table
The same outlet has now claimed that John is not the only Spurs academy player mulling over his future, with his under-21s teammate, Craig, also said to have been offered a new deal by the North London club.
The 20-year-old started every single game for Spurs in Premier League 2 during 2022-23 and made his senior debut last month when he came on for the final 13 minutes for the final-day victory at Leeds United.
The report adds that 18-year-old scholar, Cassonava, who also broke into the Under-21 set-up this season, also has a decision to make regarding whether to put pen to paper on a new contract at Tottenham.
Spurs Web Opinion
The arrival of Ange Postecoglou should hopefully persuade the likes of John, Craig and Cassanova that they would be better off remaining at Spurs.
The Australian evidently loves working with young players. The pathway to the first team at the North London club could now be much clearer than it has been over the last few years.
