Singapore June 19: Junior golf development in Singapore received a strong boost today after BFG Golf- a local golf equipment company, announced a partnership with the Singapore Golf Association (SGA) that promises to support junior golfers in their journey towards becoming champions.
Under a new management team led by co-founders Lawrence Ng and Iskandar Tjokro, BFG Golf has pledged a three-year financial support of close to S$250,000 that will give junior golfers the opportunities to develop their tournament skills while enjoying a quality competitive atmosphere here.
As part of its partnership, BFG Golf will also roll out a series of junior golf tournaments that will fall under the auspice of the SGA. These tournaments, where details will be announced in due course, will further enhance the current SGA Future Squad program for juniors under 12 years old.
The program, which currently includes nine-hole training and competitions, educational sessions and clinics, falls under SGA’s junior development strategy which is aimed at ensuring and accelerating the high performance of its golfers.
Ng said: “It’s a dawn of a new era for BFG Golf with our leadership change and as part of our new vision and mission. We want to make an impact on the future generations of the game. We are delighted to partner with SGA – the national governing body that also sees the value in our commitment towards supporting junior golf.”
Tan Chong Huat, President of SGA said: “We are thrilled to establish our partnership with BFG Golf. We admire their commitment to excellence and the development of junior golf in Singapore.
“This partnership will further support one of SGA’s three pillars which is to develop and strengthen our high performance and junior development programs. It is part of our overall vision of establishing Singapore as one of the top contenders in the Asia-Pacific region.”
Ng Luo Yi, Chairman of SGA Junior Development Committee, is also looking forward to working closely with BFG Golf as he is confident that apart from tournaments, the partnership will also further enhance the holistic development of juniors that the SGA has implemented.
“Beyond the golf course and outside the ropes, the SGA also organises holiday golf camps for our future squad juniors where they undergo training and skills testing with our national coaches along with understanding the various rules of golf with our qualified rules officials. Having BFG Golf onboard will certainly elevate the overall development of our junior golfers,” said Ng.
