Raceway Ginetta & Academy Ford Disqualified From Snetterton
The results from Snetterton’s British GT Championship races over the weekend have been finalised and released today, following two significant amendments.
Both Raceway Motorsport’s #55 Ginetta G56 and Academy Motorsport’s #61 Ford Mustang have been disqualified from the meeting, after “Michael Crees (Raceway) and Erik Evans (Academy) were involved in a verbally abusive exchange after Race 2 on Sunday”.
The British GT Championship’s statement reveals that the “Clerk of the Course’s subsequent investigation found both drivers to be in breach of Motorsport UK’s Race with Respect code of conduct for competitors (Appendix 10 of the British GT Championship regulations).”
The altercation in question took place in the paddock and came after both drivers made contact during Race 2.
As a result, both drivers have had six penalty points placed on their licenes and both cars have been disqualified from qualifying and the two races.
The change to the results are significant. Crees and his teammate Tom Holland won Pro-Am in Race 1 and finished second overall in GT4. Evans meanwhile, came home eigth.
In Race 2, both cars in question finished outside the top 10 and therefore didn’t score points, making the nature of the altercation all the more remarkable.
The exclusion for the Raceway Ginetta sees R Racing’s Josh Miller and Seb Hopkins move up to second place in class ahead of new podium finishers and Pro-Am class winners Michael Johnston and Chris Salkeld (Century Motorsport).
